Workshop 2019 Topic

Finding Christ in the Old Testament Appearances of God

Bible Teacher:  Rachel Vendsel

Reading the Bible is an opportunity to encounter the God whose nature it is to reveal Himself to people who long to know him. One way to summarize the Bible’s story is to say it is about God coming and making Himself known in order to establish communion with mankind. Throughout the Old Testament, the invisible God makes himself visible, giving glimpses of his glory and presence in symbols such as fire, cloud, and thunderstorm.  These anticipate His perfect and permanent self-revelation in Jesus Christ.  Approaching Scripture from the perspective of God’s presence opens up other major themes which help make sense of the unified story that is centered around Jesus.   Join us as we survey the many ways God reveals himself in the Old Testament, and then explore the rich connections between these appearances of God and their final expression in the person and work of Christ.
